Chemical Peels

Your skin is your body’s protective armor, keeping out harmful microbes, bacteria, UV rays, and other pollutants. Abbott Aesthetics offers personalized, medical-grade chemical peels to strengthen, revitalize, and protect your skin, helping you overcome age and sun damage.

Protect & Revitalize Your Skin

Your skin is your first line of defense against external elements. Unprotected exposure to the sun, harsh climates, and pollutants can damage and dull your skin, leaving it uncomfortable, irritated, and vulnerable. To promote your skin’s radiance and health, you must keep it hydrated and well-nourished. You must pamper it with treatments that remove dead, damaged skin cells, paving the way for healthy skin cells. Chemical peels allow you to revitalize your complexion.

What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels can improve the overall appearance of your skin. Chemical peels involve using natural acids, such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic, and more, to exfoliate and remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells that can trap oils and bacteria, thus revealing healthier, more youthful skin cells. Chemical peels also promote collagen production to improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity in various areas of the body, such as the face, neck, hands, and chest.

Your Chemical Peel Options

VI Peel

VI Peel is an innovative chemical solution containing TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. The various ingredients of the VI Peel work together to renew skin, reduce wrinkles, normalize skin tone, and smoothen texture. Furthermore, the VI Peel stimulates collagen production, encourages skin rejuvenation and cell turnover, and reveals a brighter, tighter complexion. The VI Peel can treat melasma, sun damage, uneven skin tone, acne breakouts, acne scarring, and age spots.

SkinBetter AlphaRet Peel

The SkinBetter AlphaRet Peel is an innovative chemical peel that reveals smoother, clearer, and brighter skin. It combines three powerful ingredients – lactic acid, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid – to exfoliate and treat a range of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sun damage, and acne breakouts. The SkinBetter AlphaRet system includes various chemical peels of different strengths, so our medical providers will select the appropriate peel for your skin type and conditions.

The Chemical Peels Process

Each chemical peel is unique, so the medical-grade chemical peel process must start with a thorough consultation. Our medical providers carefully examine your skin, discuss your symptoms and goals, and analyze your skin type. After a thorough evaluation, our medical providers create a skin profile and select the appropriate chemical peel formulations for you.

After cleansing the skin, the chosen chemical peel solutions are gently applied to the affected area. The solution weakens the bonds between the skin cells, causing them to slough off. The peel is allowed to sit on your face for about 15 to 30 minutes, following which it’s washed off. Finally, a soothing gel is applied to your skin to reduce post-treatment redness and discomfort.

Benefits of Chemical Peels:

  • Non-invasive skin rejuvenation
  • Improves overall skin tone and complexion
  • Stimulates cellular regeneration
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Exfoliates dead and damaged skin cells
  • Personalized according to your skin type
  • Resume daily activities and work immediately

The Chemical Peels Recovery

Most chemical peel side effects are mild, but some may experience redness, irritation, and flaking. During recovery, you must keep the skin clean, moisturize, and avoid sun exposure. The medical provider will offer aftercare instructions and a skincare regimen that you must follow. You can resume your daily activities immediately, but avoid exfoliation, direct sunlight, hot showers, saunas, tanning, strenuous workouts, and exfoliation for a few days.

Chemical Peels FAQs

Which chemical peel is right for me?

Abbott Aesthetics offers two medical-grade chemical peels — VI Peel and SkinBetter AlphaRet Peel. Both chemical peels produce different results, have different strengths, and are suitable for different skin types and conditions. Our medical providers will discuss your goals and perform a thorough skin analysis to recommend the appropriate peel for your skin type.

When will my skin start peeling?

Depending on the strength of the chemical peel, your skin may start peeling within 1 to 7 days. If your skin starts peeling, don’t be alarmed — this is part of the treatment. Keep your skin well-moisturized during the peeling process to reduce the appearance of redness and irritation, and resist the impulse to scratch at your skin.

When will I see the results?

Results from chemical peels vary from person to person, but generally, you can expect to see improvements within the first week. As your skin cells regenerate and heal, your new, healthier skin will gradually become more visible over 2 to 3 weeks.

How long do the results last?

Generally, a chemical peel’s results will last about three to six months. You can extend the longevity of the results by following a proper at-home skincare regimen, moisturizing regularly, wearing sunscreen to protect your skin, and avoiding direct sunlight.
